Dyann Heward-Mills

Empowering individuals and strengthening community.

A warm welcome, whether you are visiting for the first time or returning.

I am Dyann Heward-Mills and I have spent the last three decades honing my skills as a mother, a lawyer and a business leader.

In recent years, I have also qualified as a psychotherapeutic counsellor. As I look to the next chapter of my career, I aim to combine these experiences to provide services in four key areas, all with the common thread of driving growth, for businesses and individuals.

01 · Business Leadership

Data protection, cyber security & AI governance

I am founder and CEO of global data protection office HewardMills, which provides regulatory advice and specialist Data Protection Officer (DPO) services to multinational organisations. We help companies comply with data laws and regulations, including cybersecurity standards and the requirements arising from emerging technologies.

At the forefront of data regulation and ethics, we are a multi-disciplinary team of data protection practitioners, lawyers, corporate governance and cybersecurity experts. Trusted across industries including life sciences, technology, retail and banking, our focus is on delivering data dignity with integrity in over 70 jurisdictions.

HewardMills is proudly B Corp certified and champions diversity, working with likeminded organisations to be a global force for good.

If your organisation operates in multiple jurisdictions and you would like to know whether your data protection programme is fit for purpose, get in touch at dpo@hewardmills.com or call +44 (0) 20 3367 1245.

02 · Coaching

Retreats in nature, for transformation that lasts

I run group retreats harnessing the beauty and power of nature to enhance communication and promote growth. Escaping the urban jungle can change perspective and reinvigorate.

Group sizes range from five to 20 individuals. Together we explore the many aspects of groups: their formation, communication dynamics and intercultural nuances, and the ways in which we build resilience and emotional maturity.

03 · Counselling

A space for reflection and evolution

I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor with a foundation in humanistic psychotherapy. My philosophy is that, as individuals, we all have the capacity for growth and evolution given the right conditions, and my aim is to facilitate that through the therapeutic relationship.

Regardless of who we are in life, we all face challenges. Having a trusted person to help us find meaning in them can make a significant difference to the way we navigate them. There is always an opportunity for support, understanding and holding.

My style is to incorporate creativity into the therapeutic experience. To this end, I have recently completed an introduction to child and adolescent psychotherapy course at the University of Cambridge. I support private clients in partnership with Headstrong Counselling.

04 · Philanthropy

Championing equality and opening opportunity

I sit on the board of a number of organisations that champion equality, open opportunity and help people and communities thrive. These include:

  • 1
Black Women Rising: supporting women from minority backgrounds living with cancer.
  • 2
Inspiring Golf Inclusion: making golf accessible to women and girls from underrepresented groups.
  • 3
Iris May CIC: championing community initiatives including Protect Black Women and UK Black Stars.
